Why have a gender scan?

A gender scan, best performed between 17 - 27 weeks, allows curious parents to discover if they’re welcoming a son or daughter into the world. Knowing the sex of your unborn baby can start the bonding process early and can help parents better prepare in advance for baby’s arrival.

Scan logistics

A gender scan appointment includes:

• 30 minute appointment to check gender of baby*

• Fetal heartbeat and movement checks

• Complimentary 4D viewing

• Black and white 2D and 3D ultrasound images to take home

Pre-appointment prep

• Wear clothes to allow easy access to the abdomen i.e. trousers or skirt and top.

• A full bladder is not normally required for this scan

If we cannot advise on the sex of your baby due to the baby’s position (i.e. with legs crossed), you will be asked to take a short walk to encourage baby to move. If the sex can still not be determined, you will receive a free re-scan at a later date.

*Please note that an ultrasound can never provide a 100% guarantee of the sex of your baby.  No medical practitioner will guarantee the gender of a baby before delivery. However, the extensive experience of our staff guarantees 95% accuracy in gender determination.
