Why choose a 3D 4D scan?

A 3D 4D scan, best performed at 27 – 31 weeks, allows parents to experience their baby’s movements while inside the womb – a yawn, a stretch or a hiccup from your little one can all be captured in fantastic detail. The scanner generates real time, life-like images and video of the baby in the womb. It’s a great way to start the bonding process with your baby.

Scan logistics

A 3D 4D scan appointment includes:

• Up to 20 minutes of scanning to enjoy your unborn baby’s movements

• Gender check if requested* (but we can also keep it a secret if you do not wish to know)

• Growth checks (no. of weeks and days in age)

• A selection of colour and black and white printed images (digital version also available on a memory stick)

Pre-appointment prep

• Wear clothes to allow easy access to the abdomen i.e. trousers or skirt and top

• A full bladder is not required for this scan.  However, we would recommend that you drink plenty of water a few days in advance of the scan as this increases the amount of amniotic fluid around the baby helping to enhance the image quality.

Re-scan policy

The quality of your 3D 4D scan is dependent on a number of factors: your baby's position, the amount of fluid surrounding baby, stage of pregnancy and position of the placenta. If we’re not able to complete the primary purpose of your scan because your baby's position is unfavourable, we may offer you the option of a free re-scan appointment.

*If you choose to find out the sex of your baby during your 3D / 4D scan, and due to the baby’s position (i.e. with legs crossed) we are unable to advise, you will receive a free re-scan at a later date.
